Job Description & Requirements

The Director of Sporting Experiences reports to the General Manager and through management and communication with others, ensures the safe, efficient, and memorable operations of all member sporting activities at Wing & Barrel Ranch. This role is critical to the member experience and serves as a subject matter expert in all aspects of the operations, including the shooting ranges, hunting fields, archery range, dog handling/boarding, firearm instructions, fishing pond and general maintenance and operation of the sporting aspects of the club.


This position is the champion and lead on event programming for the sporting activities. These programs is what defines the club and sets the culture for the future. Programming includes everything from the planning stages to marketing and the proper execution of the events.


This position is also responsible for the operation and supervision of the Hunting Operations Manager, Hunting and Fishing instructors, Dog Handlers, Range Officers, and Clay Course Instructors / Guides. Plans, implements, and monitors departmental budgets. Hires, trains, and supervises subordinates and applies relevant marketing principles to assure that the wants and needs of club members and guests are consistently exceeded.


This is an exempt role with core workdays are from Wednesday through Sunday, however hours outside of this schedule may be required to fully perform this role.

Requirements

Essential Duties:

• Develops, maintains, and communicates Standard Operating Procedures and emergency plans for all areas of Sporting Operations.

• Manages and schedules the staff appropriately and efficiently.

• Provides directions, guidance, and feedback to the range masters, shooting instructors, hunting guides and fishing instructors.

• Ensures the daily opening /closing SOPs are being followed throughout sporting operations

• Responsible for recruiting and training of range masters and instructors.

• Is responsible for an annual calendar of activities, programs and club events for all sporting activities that wow the membership and marketing these events as well as the proper execution within budget.

• Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of all sporting activities programming, performances and implement program changes and/or enhancements as needed.

• Provide leadership and vision in the improvement and development of existing and new innovative sporting program development to better meet the needs of members.

• Serves as an instructor to members and prospective members and assists in matching members to other instructors.

• Supports the membership sales process by hosting tours and shooting sessions with VIPs.

• Advises or assists with questions on gun products or sales as needed.

• Promotes safe shooting, and trains staff and club members on gun safety.

• Educates staff on gun product and ammunition product knowledge.

• Ensure cleanliness and maintenance on the shooting ranges, equipment, and property.

• Ensures the safe handling and disposal of any hazardous materials or residue from sporting operations, including lead and filters.

• Oversees and participates in the maintenance and cleaning of sporting operations areas, equipment, and resources.

• Provides input/oversight on property and equipment maintenance. May assist in overseeing the work of contractors or vendors on the property.

• With oversight from the General Manager, manages the procurement and inventory of clays, shells, guns, hunting birds, and all other products essential to the sporting operations.

• Manages fish stock and pond water.

• Provides finance department input for budgeting. Monitors and track department expenditures to assigned budget

Education/Experience

- High School Diploma or GED

- Firearm Safety knowledge

- Customer Service experience

Proficiency with Club Essentials, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
