Job Description
Mountain to Sound Outfitters is a successful, local snow sports and paddle store in
West Seattle. We supply quality service, products, and community to the Northwest and beyond.  We have a great community, some of the best skiing in North America an hour away, and are surrounded by Puget Sound beach launches for sea kayaking, SUP, and whatever watersports you may be into.  We are looking for an experienced technician, and permenant year round work is available.

Summary

The focus of this position is working with and through others, building and maintaining relationships, and working closely and accurately within established guidelines. There is a need for an effective communicator, someone who is able to stimulate and motivate others while being aware of and responsive to their needs and concerns. There will be many different people to meet and work with. The person in this position must be friendly and genuinely interested in the business, agenda, and needs of others, including the company, its management, the team, the company's customers, or all of the above. A persuasive, teaching style of communication is required to communicate the company's policies, programs, and systems. A faster-than-average pace will be the norm for this position. Detail work is a major focus of the job, and those details need to be handled quickly, correctly, and efficiently. This portion of the work will often focus on relationships with others; correct handling of details dealing with others is necessary to maintain and grow relationships. If the job involves managing others, following up carefully, closely, and cheerfully is required to ensure both correct work and maintenance of the relationships. Necessary corrections must be made in a constructive, supportive manner. As time is usually a factor, the work must be done on time, as well as correctly. In general, this is a position where guidelines, structure, and established policies must be followed fairly closely, while working with and for others.

Service Shop Duties

  • Perform ski and snowboard services including mounting, tuning with new Wintersteiger, repair, and boot fitting.
  • Advise customers on options and pricing for service(s), including what can and cannot be repaired
  • Assist customers with check-in and check-out for services such as tunes, mounts, and repairs
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork and liability release forms for shop work are completed as required
  • Clearly communicate shop turn around times and pricing to customers
  • Keep the service shop clean and well organized
  • Answer the shop phone and answer customer questions or use the website, ask coworkers or use other store resources to find answers

    Rental Shop Duties
  • Advise customers on appropriate rental equipment, listening to the clients’ skiing and snowboarding goals and considering the conditions

  • Fit and adjust rental and demo equipment to suit the needs of customers

  • Maintain accurate rental records, including ensuring that all of the appropriate Rental Forms and Liability Waivers are completed

  • Assist Customers with Rental and Appointment Software systems used at Mountain to Sound Outfitters

  • Under supervision of the Shop Manager, ensure that rentals and demos are safe, clean and well-maintained

  • Ensure that the rental shop is clean and well organized

Additional Duties

  • Under supervision of the Store Manager, check in new inventory as it arrives, including checking off each item on the packing slip, printing tags, tagging items, uploading packing slip, breaking down and recycling packaging and troubleshooting issues with missing inventory

  • Organize new inventory in backstock areas and/or merchandise in store

  • Answer the store phone and respond to customer questions by using the website, asking coworkers or using other store resources to find answers

  • Process cash and credit card sales using POS system, including recording customer contact information, providing receipts and informing customers about store return policies

  • Assist with bi-annual store inventory

Compensation

- 30-40 hours a week
- Hourly wage depends on experience starting at $18-22/hr
- Weekend work is required
- Must show proof of Covid vaccination
