Position Purpose

The IT Support Analyst role is a hybrid position which is responsible for first level support and maintaining the help desk.  The role will support all hardware and software that is used at Wright & McGill. The role will interact with all business users, recommending and documenting new business process as well as training users in new functionality.  This role will be supported by the Network Admin and by the Sr. Application Programmer.  Reports directly to the IT Manager.

 

Attendance & Schedule

Required schedule for this role is 40 hours per week minimum with a 4-day work week (Mon-Thur).  Must be flexible for emergency situations on evenings, weekends and holidays.  Consistent and regular attendance is required. 

 

Knowledge/Skills and Experience

  • Prefer College degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Oracle or other ERP systems and business process knowledge a plus
  • Must have 1-3 years prior experience in a technical/customer support role.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to work effectively with clients, development staff, peers and management personnel.
  • Must have 1-2 years strong customer service and technical support experience, supporting a clientele that is predominately “non-technical”.
  • Must have functional & technical implementation upgrade and/or performance tuning experience.
  • Experience with problem management software and escalation techniques. 
  • Knowledge of Windows Desktop OS and Windows Server, MS Office
  • Knowledge of O365 and Microsoft Azure
  • Must have basic networking knowledge.
  • Clear understanding of PC workstation hardware and repair, primarily for diagnosis of the problem.
  • Ability to work independently and as member of various teams.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have hardware installations/repair.

 

Essential Duties

  • Excellent customer service skills focused on technical issues.
  • Trouble shoot and resolves end user technical issue with PC’s, Printers, Phones, Monitors, applications and all other equipment and software related to end users.
  • When unable to resolve, escalates technical issues to the appropriate resource in the timely and effective manner.
  • Serves as the Help Desk Analyst and central point of contact for IT.
  • Installs and updates desktop pc’s, laptops, company phones, peripherals and related software.
  • Demonstrates skill solving technical problems by reviewing manuals, interpreting error messages, and/or consulting with technical experts.
  • Works with end-users to gather needs for applications and/or business process enhancements to increase productivity and or reduce costs.
  • Analyzes program changes and participates in technical troubleshooting and implements technical solutions; documenting Business Requirements and participating in User Acceptance Testing. 
  • Performs basic Network Administration tasks.  
  • Participates in the Information Systems “On Call” support for business-critical issues that may occur or be scheduled during afterhours and or on weekends. 
  • Performs setups, installations and configurations to computers, operating systems and software applications.
  • Prepares hardware for deployment.
  • Manages Information System Departments equipment, Asset Management – inventory, decommission and recycling.
  • Supports the Company’s VoIP system
  • Meet appropriate Help Desk metrics
  • Provide timely status updates to end users with open help requests.
  • Interprets complex information from others
  • Provide metrics for regular reporting.
  • Interact with Telecom provider/vendor(s), software systems engineering, and/or applications development to restore service and/or identify and correct core problem. Simulates or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties.
  • Recommends systems modifications to reduce user problems.

Other Duties

  • Assist staff in routine department needs analysis and programming duties.

·        Performs other similar or less skilled work in the department or other areas of the Company.

 

Physical Environment and Working Conditions

  • Heavy lifting may be required up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in varying temperatures.
  • Must be able to in areas with chemical scent(s) and or dust.
  • Must be able to walk long distances during length of shift.
  • Must be able to reach in all directions, and bend, crawl, and twist when running wiring, and installing computers. 
  • Must be able to speak distinctly and clearly communicate instructions.
