Job Summary:

The Project Manager works within GRAYL’s Product Development (PD) team to bring innovative products to market from our product pipeline. You’ll work with engineers and designers and logisticians and factories to keep products on track, demolish roadblocks, and keep colleagues informed and supported. You’ll communicate complex ideas, manage budgets, and stay focused on what’s most important. 


Our ideal candidate has passion for our product, knowledge of our target customers, who are  some of the most interesting and adventurous people in the world. You are selfless, collaborative and highly organized. You don’t mind ambiguity and are more motivated by team success than individual glory. 


Remote position. Overnight travel 5-8 times per year. International travel required. Flexible schedule: work hard, play hard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: 

    • Utilizing PM software, manage GRAYL’s pipeline of projects including all project tasks, key milestones, timelines, resources, deliverables, dependencies, budgets and costing.

    • Continually monitor project progress and resolve roadblocks to stay on track.

    • Create and manage processes for changes in projects while managing expectations across the organization.

    • Regularly communicate progress and collaborate with key stakeholders and management. Overcome setbacks and handle ambiguity: eyes on the prize.

    • Be or become excellent at Basecamp, our PM software.

  • Product Development Support:

    • Source raw materials and factories for production and prototyping. Build relationships with potential suppliers, negotiate pricing and timelines.

    • Work with GRAYL production partners to scope and budget: prototypes, tooling, samples, costing, production schedules, and more.

    • Manage PD Logistics: POs, shipping, prototype/sample chain of custody, etc.

    • Display superb two-way communication, including with non-native speakers, that ensures everyone is understood, understands and is held accountable.

    • Communicate complexity: take and share meeting notes, craft emails, compile tech specs, annotate images, etc, all so that complex concepts are understood across cultures, continents and languages.

    • Research and share. Write product briefs, competitor briefs and design specs. Become an expert in GRAYL’s products, competitors, target market and retailers.

    • Help improve GRAYL environmental footprint via improved manufacturing, packaging and shipping.

The ideal candidate has these characteristics:

  • 5+  successful years of project management experience. 

  • Agile or Project Management certification and/or similar experience.

  • Aptitude to learn core aspects of hard goods product development: review CAD drawings, tooling, costing, raw materials, production techniques. 

  • Be highly organized, sharp focus on details, sweat the small stuff.

  • Love for product, appreciation for great design. 

  • Excellent communication skills: the ability to proactively provide timely, relevant and concise information about your areas of responsibility.

  • Capacity to be selfless, hard working and full of positive energy. Be a great partner to some of the most talented, hard-working coworkers you’ll ever have.

  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse group of people & opinions
