Job Description & Requirements

The Supply Chain Buyer will be responsible for managing vendors to deliver the highest quality, reliability and value to meet company and business unit requirements. Procure goods and/or services and support sourcing and purchasing needs for business units, providing industry, technical, and supply chain expertise. Provide expertise to support business and system processes utilized in sourcing and purchasing.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with vendors
  • Ensure vendors are meeting communication, delivery, and quality expectations
  • Contribute to regular supplier performance reviews
  • Create, edit, and manage purchase orders
  • Regularly evaluate inventory levels, communicate overages/shortages, and make recommendations
  • Participate in determining monthly purchasing requirements based on sales history, forecasts, and market conditions
  • Monitor inbound shipment status and communicate to impacted parties 
  • Work with Freight Forwarders and Carriers to ensure timely delivery of shipments and resolve arising issues
  • Be the primary contact for the Goal Zero EU warehouse providing support on inventory management and shipment information
  • Manage direct-shipments to Int’l Distributors or customers
  • Perform the Goal Zero US & EU warehouse transfer order process
  • Assist with documenting all SOPs
  • Prepare and negotiate contractual documents and binding agreements
  • Assist with local sourcing options
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Strong working knowledge of computer applications including ERP applications (SAGE/MAS preferred) Microsoft products (Excel) and ability to broaden knowledge as new technology becomes available.
  • Ability to grasp vendor and customer requirements and supply chain strategy
  • Ability to network and integrate information that achieves the overall best value for the company.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization skills, and time management
  • Effective communication & interpersonal skills to facilitate interface with all levels of management and other departments
  • Self-starter who has ability to work collaboratively to achieve high-level results.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships
  • Ability to make timely fact-based decisions and manage multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to think creatively to find efficient solutions to various business challenges
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain policies, procedures, and practices
  • Positive approach to a fast-paced, multi-requirement work environment

 

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
