Tri-Zone is a Triathlon and Bicycle Retail Shop with products range from swim gear, run gear, bike gear and triathlon gear. Although we are most knowledgeable about triathlons, we offer a full bike service department for our community. Working on commuter bikes though high end racing triathlon and road bikes. It is important for us to provide high quality work as we know the majority of our customers are using their bikes for racing.
Position Summary
We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to assemble, maintain and repair bicycles. You will be responsible for ensuring functionality and reliability of bicycles. An excellent mechanic must have manual dexterity and great attention to detail. They must be able to work with various machines and tools as well as follow all safety precautions.
Responsibilities
Build and assemble bicycles according to requirements
Inspect bicycles and analyze functionality issues
Write work orders complete with labor costs and parts used
Conduct bicycle repairs aiming for maximum reliability
Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
Perform thorough maintenance on bicycle
Clean and apply lubricants to bicycle components
Provide consultation on correct maintenance and preventative measures to bicycle users
Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. work quotes, sales assistance, etc..)
Keep logs of work and report on issues
Keep workspace clean and replace tools at the end of each job
Skills
Proven experience as Mechanic
Excellent knowledge of bike brands and their components
Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. torque wrench etc.)
Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instructions, research new technology etc.
A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
Very good communication skills
A problem-solving ability
Very good physical strength and stamina
High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus
