Job Title: Senior Accountant

 

OVERVIEW

Become a key member of a small, growing Park City based company in the outdoor & sporting goods industry managing two brands. This posting is confidential and therefore the search to fulfil this role is being conducted anonymously.

 

The Senior Accountant will manage the day-to-day accounting responsibilities for the company including month-end closing cycles. The Senior Accountant is expected to accurately manage and process accounting entries and reconciliations on a timely basis. This position also provides various support functions relating to sales, service, and operations.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and record general journal entries as required.
  • Manage weekly reporting and month-end account reconciliations.
  • Manage all monthly balance sheet and income statement account reconciliations.
  • Suggest and implement operational best practices within the accounting and operations departments
  • Accurately record and enter vendor invoices, make and record vendor payments on a timely basis (i.e. daily/weekly) balancing cash flow of business with vendor payment terms.
  • Create customer invoices, receive and apply payments on an accurate and timely basis (i.e. daily)
  • Manage AR aging by developing relationships with in-house sales department as well as external sales reps and customers where appropriate.
  • Track credit card payments, apply to invoices as orders ship, and generally assist with AR reconciliation.
  • Record and reconcile all activity in clients’ bank accounts into the accounting system on a timely basis as part of the month-end closing schedule.
  • Work with the senior management to maintain near-term (13 week) cash forecasts.
  • Process payroll cycles.
  • Handle basic HR duties including interacting with benefit providers and providing basic employee info to new hires as needed.
  • Assist in basic office administrative functions.
  • Assist with other departments and projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2-year accounting degree or higher or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and a standard month-end close cycle.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel/Office skills required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the challenges and priorities of a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Human Resources experience a plus.
  • Experience with Quickbooks Desktop a plus.
  • Experience working with customers and vendors in order to maintain accurate working capital aging.
  • Ability to analyze existing operations and recommend and implement policies, procedures, and systems.
  • Impeccable communication and interpersonal skills
