Copywriter - Looking for a storyteller that gives a voice to our awesome products 

 

 *This role is predominately remote with the occassional need to go into the office.  Must reside in the Chicagoland area*

Position Overview: 

 

The Copywriter will be responsible for creating comprehensive text and structure across all mediums. S/he will work with other members of the marketing team and cross-functionally with product management, sales and graphic design team to translate the story into targeted relevant language. In line with brand guidelines, s/he will create copy across mediums, from traditional & nontraditional advertising to selling collateral and sales presentations to emails and blog posts. S/He will support the brand managers across the business units to generate the needed content for the holistic marketing plan, including advertising, PR events, and presentations. The Copywriter will report to the Marketing Director, Americas.  

 

Duties: 

  • Tell the story in meaningful, relevant language 
  • Create headlines and brief texts across communication mediums with heavy focus on digital/social advertising, e-mail, and web site. 
  • Partners with digital and content teams to design and deliver ad buys across platforms
  • Partners with creative team to design and deliver all required assets 
  • Help bring to life the selling story from target POV
  • With product development team to translate feature and technical language into insight driven frameworks and benefit communication 
  • Draft and edit Outdoor Americas press releases 
  • Evaluates existing copy to ensure SEO optimization and relevancy
  • Create required, consumer friendly text that aligns with website layout
  • Help translate global messaging into local language 
  • Partners with Events leader to create the required setting and deliver the tools for trade shows and special events
  • Guides Community Engagement team with tone of voice and copy framework 
  •  Partners with Community Engagement team to create relevant content for end users (ex. blog posts, short/long form content)   
  • Maintains brand standards while delivering required content to achieve business goals

 Qualifications: 

  • Strong understanding of the Outdoor industry
  • 5+ years in copywriting role
  • Experience in B2C, B2B and B2B2C desired 
  • Demonstratable experience creating copy across communication mediums 
  • Ability to highlight situations where effective copy propelled business to reach objectives
  • Advanced skills at balancing language and SEO requests
  • Experience working cross-functionally and across different business units
  • Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit; willing to tackle new challenges and take initiative
  • Customer-first mindset; what resonates with customers in different mediums 
  • Strong research skills; understand and assess the audience, create, test, measure, and adjust approach
  • Excellent writing skills 
  • Excellent communication, written, and verbal skills required 
  • Leadership ability, entrepreneurial attitude, and a good team player 
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines 
  • Experience working on both internal and external agency 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other business programs as necessary 
  • Passionate about the outdoor experience
  • Comfort working across all organization levels from Sr. Management to Coordinators
