The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife is looking for an innovative, strategic thinker to coordinate our efforts to recruit, retain and reactivate anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. R3, as it is called, aims to increase participation in fishing, hunting, shellfish and other outdoor activities. As the R3 Coordinator, you will work with a talented team of professionals in our Information and Education Division to develop, implement and evaluate strategies to increase diversity and overall participation in fishing and hunting. Working with partner organizations and agencies, you’ll help organize and conduct events and workshops to increase the awareness of the fun and the value of fish and wildlife related recreation. What you will do:
• Hunter/Angler Recruitment, Retention and Reactivation (R3). Coordinate the development of plan to recruit, retain and reactivate hunters, anglers, shellfish and wildlife viewers. Identify goals, objectives and strategies and evaluate effectiveness. Coordinate development of “how to” and “where to” fish and hunt materials. Assist with planning and conducting educational workshops and events. Develop partnerships with members of sporting groups, retailers, industry and organizations to help recruit, retain and/or reactivate anglers and hunters.
• Increase diversity in fishing, hunting, shellfish and wildlife viewing participation. Develop and implement a Diversity Outreach/Recruitment Plan. Monitor biennial budget for diversity outreach/recruitment activities. Coordinate translation of course materials, web content, signs and other outreach materials. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with organizations offering services to diverse audiences. Assist in promoting fishing and hunting and education opportunities to diverse audiences. Collaborate with the department’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee in support of agency DEI initiatives.
• Coordinate the efforts of the Department’s public education programs, including Hunter Education, Bowhunter Education, Outdoor Skills Education, Archery Education and Angler Education. Under direction of the Division Administrator, coordinate the day to day work of education staff. Coordinate the overall development and management of federal Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration (WSFR) grants and other grants for education section programs. Monitor budgets and inventory. Help develop volunteer policies and procedures and work closely with volunteers to conduct fishing and hunting related training and events.

We are seeking applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and have the following skills and experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
• A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the Fisheries or Wildlife Science; and four years’ experience coordinating, administering, or managing a program OR;
• Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience coordinating, administering or managing a program.

• Interpreting and applying statutes and administrative rules
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• The ability to fluently read, write and speak Spanish is preferred but not required
