Job Description & Requirements
OARS, one of the most respected outfitters in adventure travel, is seeking a full-time Director of Human Resources to support, plan and implement Human Resource programs.
PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Human Resources will oversee all aspects of the OARS Human Resource department:- Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource-related federal and state requirements, conducting investigations and maintaining records
- Maintain and revise the company’s employee handbook
- Implement, and revise as needed, the company’s overall compensation plan
- Maintain job descriptions and individual compensation agreements
- Develop, analyze and update the company’s compensation budget
- Develop, revise and make recommendations regarding employment plans and procedures
- Administer employee benefit programs
- Oversee recruitment efforts for all personnel, including writing and placing job ads
- Conduct new office employee orientations and employee relations counseling
- Oversee exit interviews
- Maintain HR department records and reports
- Coordinate and prepare documentation for bi-annual performance reviews
- Provide consultation and recommendations regarding disciplinary actions and conflict mediation
- Plan and implement annual HR seminar at each regional outpost
- Maintain company directory
- Performing other related activities and tasks as assigned
- Some travel will be required
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- Five or more years of experience as a manager of Human Resources
- Bachelor degree or higher in Human Resource studies or a related field
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with high attention to detail
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities with a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills (will interact daily with a diverse team of office colleagues and remote staff)
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment, with or without direct supervision
- Additional professional HR certifications highly valued
